Composed for my 2002 new year greeting card. Because 2002 reads the same forward and backward (and is therefore a palindrome) it seemed a nice idea to write a piece of music with the same peculiarity. The Palindrome may sound relaxed and easy enough, but it was in contrast to that a very strenuous exercise to achieve such a natural and simple sounding result and still meet the premeditated condition of reversibility.
