I wrote the
5 Recital pieces with a teacher and pupil in mind. The basic idea was to create an easy first part with left and right hand in parallel and a range for each hand of a fifth to avoid the necessity of shifting hand position. A more elaborate second part should then compensate for the simplicity of the first one. Rhythmically, as it turned out, the easy first part is not that easy to play, and can be considered to be slightly challenging. The blues was a birthday present for Erik Huele (Tao-instructor - musician - composer) and the waltz is dedicated to Ad Witteveen, who was my neighbour at the time I wrote these pieces (1991-1992).
Duration of 5 Recital pieces : 8' 31 (1' 39 - 0' 51 - 1' 53 - 2' 14 - 1' 54)
